Rendez-vous in Upper Brittany, Ille-et-Vilaine 35000 Rennes fr

Upper Brittany is an attractive, welcoming region, which buzzes with activity. Among its many outstanding features are a stunning coastline, beautiful countryside and excellent local food, but that’s not all! Other aspects include hi-tech and unusual activities, arts and crafts, and numerous festivals.

Take a step back into history by visiting some of the splendid Malouinières (country residences built by 18th century ship-owners and corsairs), museums and discovery centres.

Recharge your batteries in the bracing sea air of Saint-Malo, Dinard, with its stately British villas and film-set atmosphere, and the Emerald Coast with its famous Cancale oysters.

And there’s plenty more!
Upper Brittany is a food-lover’s paradise with markets, restaurants, and locally-produced foods including salt-marsh lamb from the Bay of Mont-Saint-Michel, oysters, caramel made with salted butter, and Saint-Malo craquelins.

Upper Brittany is also the scene of festivals, many of which are internationally well-known like the Transmusicales de Rennes, the Route du Rock, the Festival Quai des Bulles, and the Etonnants Voyageurs in Saint-Malo. Sporting events include the Route du Rhum Transatlantic Yacht Race, and the National Sea-Kayak Championships. And don’t forget food festivals like the delicious Festival Gourmand de Rennes, where top chefs from the "Capital" of Brittany compete against one another.

If you’re looking for peace and quiet, follow one of our discovery trails through tranquil countryside, or visit one of the many parks and nature conservation areas in the region.

No visit to Upper Brittany is complete without exploring the Brocéliande Forest, steeped in Arthurian legend, where you can let your imagination run wild in the enchanted atmosphere!

Our region is an ideal destination for a weekend or short break at any time of year, with a broad range of activities and plenty of surprises. History and hi-tech, coast and countryside…Upper Brittany has something for everyone at any time of year.
