Visit the Cité de l'Automobile and the Schlumpf Collection
Discover the fascinating history of the motor car in a visit to the fabulous Schlumpf Collection, which features more than 400 stunning cars - including the world-famous Bugatti Royale - covering an area of 25,000m2.
Born out of a passion for classic European cars, the Schlumpf collection was started in secrecy in an old textile factory, opened to the public for the first time in 1966.
Currently, the exhibition areas present visitors with various motor experiences covering historical periods, masterpieces, racing, and even the construction of motorcars. In addition to exhibiting vehicles, the museum actively restores them, and museum-goers can see the latest piece of restoration work on display: the Mercedez Benz 600 Pullman.
The exhibition trackLittle ones will find the museum equally as fascinating - it has the largest collection of children’s cars in the world, and an interactive area, where they can ride on the go-cart track, or use tools to practice building and repairing cars. When little legs are tired, families can ride, rather than walk, through the museum, in a little train tour.
For grown-ups, try your hand at cranking up a real engine, or experience the thrill of a barrel-roll in a specially designed car. There is also an exhibition track that seats up to 4,500 spectators, where the cars are dusted off and revved back to life every weekend from July to September.
An audio-guided tour, films and many activities provide a lively presentation of the history of the car.
New! The Autodrome. This new exhibition track hosts the show "On track!".
For the simply curious and the aficionado alike, the Cité de l'Automobile has plenty to hold your interest!
