“Messiaen au pays de la Meije” Festival
Since 1998, the Festival “Messiaen au pays de la Meije” pays tribute to the composer Olivier Messiaen in a place he choose himself to compose : La Meije villages (Hautes-Alpes). The majestic massif of La Meije was an inspiration for him : glaciers, waterfalls, birds... A whole universe transcribed in a sound full of emotion and spirituality.
Today, the festival enjoys a national and international renown. It is a musical event of high quality protected and supported by the french Minister of Culture.
The festival opens its 2014 edition to the composer Iannis Xenakis to celebrate the wealth of music described by Messiaen as "Telluric, so close to torrents, lightning, hail, and that jumps like raging sea".
