Winter Sales: Find a bargain in Paris and France
If you have a weakness for nice clothes and shoes, but no bulging wallet, then go on sale in France and find a bargain.
Nice designer clothes, electronics, household items or books. There is something for every taste and interest when France twice a year helds their big sales.
It is the state that decides when the six weeks of soldes takes place - and it is a sellout of the kind that is so good that many are queuing up in sleeping bags overnight to be ready at 8:00 when the doors open .
Three tips for the sales
- If you are looking for something specific, then you might want to be there early - however, the first few hours of the sales are very hectic. If you just want to see if you can find a good bargain, then wait as long as you dare - prices will fall gradually during the sales. There is typically 25-30% discount to begin with and up to 75% in the last days of the winter sales.
- If you dream of a beautiful bag from Chanel or Christian Dior you may consider visiting one of the designer shops. But if you dream of a little of everything then go to a department store like Galleries Lafayette or Printemps, where you have nearly efverything within reach at a reasonable price.
- A lot of people will be waiting in line for the fitting rooms, so it's a good idea to wear clothes you can quickly get in and out of. Also remember to ask if the store takes the goods back, if you will be getting second thoughts.
