Discover Saint-Valentin, the most romantic village in France
Paris may be the city of lovers, but in this small village in the center of France, it’s Valentine’s Day all year long.
This village in the Indre department of France takes the mission of its namesake, the patron saint of love, very seriously.
Of course the 14th of February is a very important date, and in the week leading up to it, the village turns out for the celebration: the locals decorate their houses with hearts and flowers, themed dinner parties take place in the salle des fêtes, and special Sunday masses are held as a celebration for lovers.
But the village opens its heart to those in love all throughout the year. It is a popular place for couples to celebrate wedding anniversaries or renew their vows. There is a specially-designed Jardin des Amoureux where couples can lose themselves among the foliage, and the town has created a special project, the Maison du Sentiments Amoureux, where they hope to collect objects, letters and expressions of tenderness from people in love around the world.
It’s the perfect stop as you explore the Loire Valley, and close to other sites by bike or by car.
