France is renowned for its many festivals, other parts of the country also play host to numerous events, allowing visitors to discover a variety of fascinating sites.

 

In the South...

While classical, jazz and electronic music concerts are enjoyed byaudiences at the Festival de Radio France et Montpellier Languedoc-Roussillon, theatre enthusiasts will make for the Festival d’Avignon.

It’s just 30km from Avignon to Orange, where festival-goerscan enjoy one of the operas or lyrical concerts performed aspart of the Chorégies d’Orange.

In the surrounding areas the Arena of Nimes will host a major current music event during the Nimes Festival.

The avenues and park of the Châteaude Florans are filled with the sounds of the piano as well asother instruments during the La Roque d’Anthéron International Piano Festival.

From Reims cathedral to the Charles de Cazanove champagne cellars and the Palais du Tau, the Flâneries Musicales de Reims invites young talented musicians to perform along side renowned artists in 30 emblematic sites dotted aroundthe city every year.

In Eastern France, the Festival International de Musique de Besançon Franche-Comté,  allowing visitors to combine music and heritage with the discoveryof the citadel.

Discover the Berlioz Festival in Rhône-Alpes, in Côte-Saint-André, the composer’s hometown.

Another festival not to miss: the Saintes Festival, between Bordeaux and La Rochelle, where the Francofolies music festival is held.

In the Paris region, the Royal Opera of the Château de Versailles will be the exceptional setting for a whole season of Baroque operas and concerts of religious music.

In the Parisian region, there is the Rock en Seine Festival... rock music in Parc de Saint-Cloud, while in Britanny, the Vieilles Charrues Festival brings the departement of Finistère to life.
