When French king, Philippe Auguste, ordered the construction of the Louvre Palace at the end of the 12th century, little did he know that his personal castle would become the vault for more than 35,000 works of art from all over the world. From Da Vinci’s gift to humanity, the ‘Mona Lisa’, to Delacroix’s revolutionary ‘Liberty Leading the People’, to Veronese’s enormous ‘Wedding Feast at Cana’, the Louvre Museum’s permanent collection includes masterpieces that everyone is entitled to enjoy.
