Day 1 Paris (25 km)
Arrive in Paris. Guided sightseeing tour: the Champs Elysées, the Arc de Triomphe, the Eiffel Tower, Opéra... Boat cruise down the magnificent Seine to appreciate Paris in all its splendour. Dinner. Board in Paris.
Day 2 From Rouen to the Lisieux Sanctuary (230 km)
Set off for Rouen. Guided tour of the historic town centre: the timbered houses, the Great Clock, the cathedral, the Vieux Marché square… Free time for lunch. Depart for Lisieux. Tour of the basilica devoted to Saint Theresa with its walls adorned with mosaics. Dinner and board in the Lisieux area.
J3 Mont St Michel and St Malo (240 km)
Guided tour of one of the wonders of the Western World – Mont St Michel. Free time for lunch. Continue on to St Malo, the fortified city where pirates, ship-owners and adventurers left their marks on the ramparts. Dinner. Board in the St Malo area.
Day 4 Castles of the Loire and Saint-Martin de Tours (320 km)
Depart for Tours. Follow in the footsteps of Saint-Martin with a guided tour of the basilica and the crypt where his tomb lies. Free time for lunch. Tour of Villandry Castle and the magnificent gardens. Continue with the spectacular Chenonceau Castle and its gallery. Dinner. Board in the Tours area.
Day 5 Poitiers and Rocamadour (380 km)
Set off for Poitiers. Guided tour of the town, the Roman Notre Dame la Grande church and the Saint Jean baptistery. Free time for lunch. Continue on to Rocamadour for a guided tour of this Marian city that clings to the cliff side. Dinner. Board in the Rocamadour area.
J6 Toulouse, Occitan Capital (340 km)
Arrive in the morning. This ‘pink city’ is also known as the city of violets, the capital of rugby, and the birthplace of the Airbus. Guided tour of Toulouse from the Place du Capitole square to the Garonne quays, the Saint Sernin basilica and its stunning Renaissance-era houses. Free time for lunch. Free afternoon to wander. Continue on to the province of Béarn. Dinner. Board in Lourdes.
Day 7 The Sanctuaries of Lourdes
Guided tour of the Marian city of Lourdes, including the sanctuaries and the caves in which Bernadette experienced a series of apparitions. Free time for lunch and to explore the city for yourself. Dinner. Board.
Day 8 Notre Dame del Pilar Basilica (275 km)
Depart for Spain and Saragosse via the colourful and wild Pyrenees. Guided tour of the old town and the Notre Dame del Pilar basilica. Free time to have lunch and wander. Dinner. Board in Saragosse.
Day 9 Burgos and Leon (500 km)
Guided tour of Burgos and its cathedral, a beautiful example of Spanish gothic art. Burgos is one of the stages along the Pilgrim Route of Saint Jacques. Free time for lunch. Continue on into the very heart of Meseta, and to Leon. Dinner. Board in the Leon area.
Day 10 Saint Jacques de Compostelle (355 km)
The pilgrimage to the tomb of Saint Jacques is loaded with history, and tales of adventure, life and spirituality. Free time for lunch. Guided tour of Saint Jacques de Compostelle, the impressive cathedral, Obradoiro Square, the Gelmirez Palace... Dinner. Board in Saint-Jacques.
Day 11 The Baroque Town of Braga (245 km)
Guided tour of Braga: this old town is built in the baroque style, coiling around a magnificent cathedral, the stairway and the Bom Jesus sanctuary. Free time for lunch. Continue to Porto. Guided tour of the historic centre: the Praça da Liberdade, the St Francis medieval church, the authentic Ribeira quarter... Trip to a wine storehouse followed by a tasting session. Dinner. Board in Porto.
Day 12 The Sanctuary of Fatima (200 km)
Guided tour of the sanctuary, the basilica, the chapel of apparitions and the shepherds’ houses. Free time for lunch. Dinner. Board in Fatima.
Day 13 A Monastery and Medieval Fortress (200 km)
Guided tour of the church in Batalha’s 14th century Gothic monastery. Continue on to Nazare, a picturesque fishing village home to brightly painted boats. Free time for lunch. Set off for Obidos. This beautiful medieval town is surrounded by ramparts and was the property of the queens of Portugal. Dinner. Board in Lisbon.
Day 14 Lisbon (100 km)
Guided tour of Lisbon: the Rossio, Baixa, Bairro Alto... quarters, the Hieronymite monastery and the outside of the Belém Tower. Visit a bakery to sample the delicious ‘pasteis de Nata’ pastries. Free time for lunch. Explore Sintra and the Cabo da Roca cape. Return to Lisbon via the beautiful seaside towns of Cascais and Estoril. Dinner. Board.
