The reopening of the Unterlinden Museum - Colmar
When one of France's finest museums gets special treatment from the architects Herzog & de Meuron the result is a masterpiece in every sense of the word. This was a colossal project for the benefit of art works which are a gift to posterity.
Thanks to this project, it will be possible to admire the star of the museum's collections, the Isenheim Altarpiece, like never before, as the jewel in this outstanding establishment’s crown. The renovation work make the whole visitor experience more fluid and user-friendly. The conversion of the former municipal baths, unique of their kind, also enable the museum to display its contemporary art collections which had been consigned to the storerooms up until now.
The goal is to trace the complete history of art in a living area where visitors can even enjoy a meal. A museum very much in keeping with the times.A huge program, with the reopening since December 2015.
