Discover the best of France's ski resorts

The French ski resorts have continued to change and grow by investing in new features and equipment to improve the experience for skiers.

From the implementation of new and modernized ski lifts to the creation of new runs accessible to beginner and intermediate skiers, here is an overview of some of the newest changes and improvements in the French mountains.

Northern Alps

Morzine - Avoriaz (Haute-Savoie)

With the addition of a brand new cable car linking Morzine and  Avoriaz, an alternative will be available to the road link between the two resorts.

The high-speed cable car will be equipped with twelve cabins with a capacity of 35 people and feature lighting, radio and large windows. Travelling at 7 metres per second, the journey across will take only four minutes.

 

Courchevel

Courchevel is based in Les 3 Vallées, the largest interlinked ski area in the world. A stunning setting for skiing your heart out in a variety of landscapes : perfectly groomed pistes, forests and high in the mountain… Courchevel hosts large scale events for everyone. Festivities for the Alpine World Cup, Christmas, New Year and Easter attract thousands of people every winter.

Free local activities encourage people to get together. Holidaymakers love meeting up at the foot of the slopes for a « chamallow party ». And let’s not forget ski springtime with the highlight being the Feria Blanche when end-of-season skiing is celebrated in a warm atmosphere.

 

Chamonix

Chamonix is a village resort where modernity and tradition live comfortably side by side and offers a great variety or top accommodations. Its colourful history and architectural heritage has been preserved. Its traditions give it a unique vitality and character.

In winter, Chamonix give you access to the most outstanding skiing from December to May, with excellent snow cover and springtime skiing conditions. A different way of skiing for all skiers offering a different panorama of Mont-Blanc each day.

Val d'Isère

More than just a sign or a signature, a personality and values. Val, a resort that has preserved the heart and soul of a village, a premium sporting resort, an extraordinary natural paradise where all the mountains are preserved for you.

Alpine area : The Espace Killy is open from the 30th of november until the 4th of may. It is more than 300 km of slopes2 glaciers94 chair lifts.

 

Val Thorens (Savoie)

This snow park is now equipped with cameras to film your jumps. How does it work? With your ski pass, you identify yourself at the gate, and cameras then film you on two jumps. Once you have finished your run, you will be able to view it on a big screen at the bottom of the snow park. You can also download the video to your smartphone or view it online.

 

La Plagne (Savoie)

The snow front of the Plagne Centre has been completely remodelled for the comfort and circulation of skiers.The 4-seat Bécoin chairlift has been replaced by a 6-seat detachable chairlift with a capacity increased from 2,400 to 3,600 skiers.
