The KISS ROOM by Mathias KISS in Paris
A temporary art installation that is also a hotel room: this is the Kiss Room, conceived by Parisian artist Mathias Kiss, in the 3e arrondissement of the capital. For only 1000 nights, from November 13, 2013 to November 18, 2016, the room is available for visitors to experience nightly.
Inside, an incredible surprise awaits; every available space is covered with mirrors. 1000 mirrors, 1000 reflections, 1000 nights.
Tucked away in a converted storeroom just behind the Café de la Perle in the Marais, the Kiss Room is designed to encourage guests to reflect on life, among other things. Just 100 ft.2, it contains only the necessities: a bed, bathroom, and minibar stocked with Ruinart champagne. It is completely soundproof to prevent any disturbances from outside noises; instead you are enveloped in a soothing soundtrack composed by Nicolas Godin from the group Air.
Designed by its creator to be an unforgettable experience, the Kiss Room is sure to incite curiosity from all parties: couples, of course, but also from contemporary art lovers who are sure to find delight in the reflections of the 1000 mirrors.
Still, a night's stay in this room will set you back a pretty 750€, but those who have been there would say it's worth every penny.
