Exhibition: ‘Habitarium’ at the Condition Publique in Roubaix

Housed in an old factory, Roubaix’s creative artistic centre is currently hosting a special exhibition until 8th July 2018 devoted to the question of housing and habitat, the role it plays in our society and its future social evolution. This follows hot on the heels of the venue’s urban art showcase in spring 2017.

In a nutshell, ‘Habitarium’ collectively considers the points of view of architects, urban planners, entrepreneurs, philosophers, artists and civil society figures. The exhibition aims to address the critical issue of habitat in a way that is accessible to all viewers. Under the artistic direction of the Coal Association (Coalition Art and Sustainable Development), it’s complemented by a rich cultural programme of meetings and debates, screenings, shows, concerts and artist residencies.

A temporary campsite on the roof

Visitors can enjoy a unique additional experience from 9th May by spending a night in a pop-up camp-village on the roof terrace of this beautiful 20th-century building, which is listed as a French historic monument.

These unusual and experimental homes, designed by the ‘Yes We Camp’ collective of architects and artists, is a must-see even on a daytime visit.
