Les Louvres de Picasso exhibition at the Louvre-Lens Museum

From September 23, 2020 to January 25, 2021, the Les Louvres de Picasso exhibition, organized in collaboration with the National Picasso-Paris Museum under the curation of Dimitri Salmon, scientific collaborator in the Department of Paintings of the Louvre, will be held in Lens. The exhibition is a new perspective to understand the painter's masterful works.

At the Louvre Museum in Lens, Northern France, the Les Louvre de Picasso exhibition invites visitors to experience the work of Pablo Picasso. By unveiling his oeuvre as a whole in order to understand the importance that the Louvre Museum had for the master and the dominant place it had in his imagination, from his first visit in 1900 to the exhibition of his own works in the Grand Gallery in 1971.
In many ways, the relationship between the Louvre and his works was a lifelong affair.

The dialogue between Picasso's work and the Louvre's collections

The Museum and its content deeply influenced his very conception of art, and many of his creations stem from drawings, engravings, paintings, sculptures and works of art on display.

The Les Louvre de Picasso exhibition explores the dialogue between Picasso's work and the collections of the Paris museum, as well as the deep connection that the Louvre has forged with the artist and his work since the 1930s. So, through the famous museum's collections, we follow Picasso in his travels thanks not only to his works, but also to archival documents highlighting the place held by the Louvre in the imagination of the artist.
