Tour de France Grand Départ 2018

The 105th Tour de France departs from the island of Noirmoutier in Vendée this year, passing along a route that hugs the Atlantic coast, before showcasing the Vendée bocage, Anjou and Loire-Atlantique over the following three stages.

After negotiating Noirmoutier’s famous Passage du Gois, riders will race along the Atlantic coast in the direction of the Vélodyssée cycle route. This coastal kick-off will take cyclists through the family resorts of Saint-Jean-de-Monts, Saint-Gilles-Croix-de-Vie and Les Sables-d’Olonne.

Leaving the coast after La Tranche-sur-Mer, the peloton will traverse the Marais Poitevin before crossing the finishing line at Fontenay-le-Comte, awarded the ‘town of art and history’ label, which is hosting the Tour for the first time.
