CHERBOURG-EN-COTENTIN, THE IDEAL CRUISE DESTINATION

Located on the top of the Normandy Peninsula, protected by the largest artificial breakwaters of the world, Cherbourg-en-Cotentin, gateway to Normandy, is your ideal cruise destination.Historical port of Departure during the Transatlantic period, the Titanic also called Cherbourg in 1912.

From the Cruise Terminal, it is easy to get to 4 listed Unesco World Heritage sites : Mont Saint Michel, the Bayeux Tapestry, the Vauban Towers and the D-Day beaches.

A wide range of shore excursions are within range of Cherbourg, such as the D-Day Landing Beaches and sites, the amazing scenery of La Hague Cape and the Saire Valley for nature lovers, tours focused on local products and Normandy traditions…

The Cherbourg Cruise Club is a department of the Cherbourg Tourist Office, especially dedicated to promoting the Port of Cherbourg and Normandy as a Cruise Destination. The Cruise Club provides welcome services to each cruise call in the cruise terminal and coordinates the various cruise industry players in Cherbourg. In order to develop, promote and reinforce the strong relationships that exist between the port of Cherbourg and the cruise lines, Cherbourg Cruise Club is a proud member of several networks and is present on the most important cruise exhibitions all over the world.

Cherbourg Cruise Club – 2017 season and 2018 perspectives:

2017 cruise season was highly dynamic for the Port of Cherbourg-en-Cotentin, and a record year, with 35 calls, 65 716 cruise guests and 26 892 crew members welcomed.

8 maiden calls (Britannia, Viking Star, Monarch, Silver Explorer, Star Pride, Clio, Aurora, Navigator of the Seas), 3 double calls and 5 unexpected calls took place this year.

This year, 13 439 guests opted for half-day and full-day shore excursions.

The most remarkable event of the year was the call of the Queen Mary 2 on the occasion of the transatlantic race ‘The Bridge 2017’, around 1700 passengers embarked from the very mythic transatlantic cruise terminal, as it was initially designed.

2018 program promises to be another fantastic season with 37 calls and over than 60.000 guests. 9 maiden calls and the very expected return of the Disney Magic on July 28th.

Major event of the year, Cherbourg Cruise Terminal will be fitted with a new air bridge gangway, in the first semester of the year!
