La Cité du Vin, a World of Cultures
Located at the heart of docks, which is the new eco-friendly neighborhood in Bordeaux, the “Cité du Vin” is surprising for its unusual architecture and scenography. As a result of a close collaboration between two agencies, XTU Architects and Casson Mann, the “Cité du Vin” celebrates and explores the spirit of wine and its global cultural heritage.
The museum offers:
- A permanent immersive exhibition with digital and interactive technologies (3D images, smell dispensers, decorations…), made of 19 thematic clusters on 33,000 square feet, where for nearly 2 hours visitors can discover and experience wine civilizations.
- A 360 degrees space dedicated to wine tasting on the eighth floor, so aptly called “le Belvédère”. Three other workshops are available for those who want to learn more about wine.
- A great hall dedicated to temporary exhibitions
Already listed as National Geographic’s 7th best museum in the world, the “Cité du Vin” won its second star in the Michelin Green Guide in April 2018.
