Vignobles & Découvertes: Vallée du Layon

The Vignobles & Découvertes label aims to provide quality services and visits catering to wine tourism. The label appeals to a customer base that appreciates the world of wine without necessarily being connoisseurs, and offers a range of quality services: accommodation, cultural sites, leisure activities, cellar tours, restaurants, exploration of natural spaces, events and more.

Eight destinations in Loire Valley have been awarded the label: Val de Loire, Amboise - Val de Loire, Chenonceau - Vallée du Loir - Chinon, Bourgueil, Azay - Saumur, Val de Loire - Vallée du Layon - Muscadet Loire Océan - Angers Loire Valley.

Destination: Vallée du Layon

The “Vallée du Layon” destination covers a rural region made up of 44 districts, whose backbone is the Le Layon River. The destination’s identity has been built on two strong elements: the Loire and the vineyards.

Over the past few years, the Layon Valley has capitalised on its central position and used its characteristic assets to its best advantage in order to make a name for itself as one of the key destinations in the greater west in terms of wine tourism and touring holidays.

The “Vallée du Layon” destination offers a selection of some 15 partner cellars, six accommodation options, along with a choice of seven restaurants serving traditional cuisine as well as set menus suggesting wine pairings. Visitors are welcomed by the Loire Layon tourist office or by one of two partner tourism centres.

Visitors will be able to discover heritage sites such as the Anjou Wine and Vine museum or the Château de Serrant, where one can enjoy a number of activities linked to wine which are available in several languages, as well as participate in events that highlight the region and its local traditions.
