As tradition has it, the Paris Haussmann Flagship store’s spectacular glass-covered Neo-Byzantine dome houses every year since 1976 a majestic Christmas tree to celebrate the holiday season. At the center of this year’s theme, is the great Christmas tree.
Galeries Lafayette has partnered exclusively with author Claire Castillon
and illustrator Florent Chavouet to bring Planet of the Christmas Trees a children’s book to life through an in-store interactive experience.
The story begins on Elato, a planet of wild Christmas Trees that love everything about the Earth; so much so that every year, one tree is selected for a mission to retrieve something special from planet Earth. This Christmas, Nordmann has been chosen, and while on his quest, he finds Annie, a little girl in the Galeries Layafette Haussmann department store in Paris whose father does not want to participate in celebrating Christmas until a Christmas miracle of sorts changes their destiny.
The Planet of the Christmas Trees is filled with humor and speaks to readers of all ages.
Claire Castillon has published upwards of 30 novels and won much acclaim for her socially conscious work. Florent Chavouet is an illustrator and Graphic novelist and with the help of artisans and puppeteers, transforms Galeries Lafayette into the magical world of The Planet of the Christmas Trees.
