Cantigny American Monument and associated monuments

This monument in the center of Cantigny commemorates the first large offensive operation by an American division during World War I. The 28th and elements of the 18th United States Infantry Regiments supported by French artillery and tanks took the village and held it against repeated counter attacks on May 28, 1918. It shares the park with other monuments to the 1st of the 5th Field Artillery and the 28th Infantry Regiment.
