The Cévennes National Park

An exceptional park.

This national park was officially created in 1970.Traces of prehistoric inhabitants have been discovered there.Currently, the park extends over the Cevennes region and includes the Lozère, Gard, Ardèche and Aveyron departments.It is distinguished by an organisation that is unique in France: on the one hand, it is the only natural park located at the mid mountain level, and on the other, it is inhabited and run by permanent residents.It has a number of unusual natural sites, such as the Tarn Gorges , Les Bondons and the Païolive Woods, filled with rock formations and oak trees. Over 2,000 continental, Mediterranean or alpine animal species are found in the park.
