While many establishments have reopened in the capital and life is getting back to normal, Galeries Lafayette is shining the summer spotlight on the City of Light itself. From July 6 to August 31, all the talents in fashion, art, design and food are offering exciting experiences in store. Here's a look at what's to come.
What would Paris be without its incredible cuisine, chic fashionistas, world-class exhibitions and fascinating architecture? Following on from exhibitions devoted to Normandy in 2019 and the south east in 2020, Galeries Lafayette (Boulevard Haussmann, Avenue des Champs-Elysées and Beaugrenelle) wanted to celebrate the capital's wealth of artisans in this long-awaited summer 2021 show. Let's take a closer look at the various events taking place at this important time.
Pop-ups, embroidery workshops and happy hour
As soon as you arrive on Boulevard Haussmann, you'll see the photographs taken by Thibaut Grevet in partnership with the Paris Convention and Visitors Bureau and the Paris Ile-de-France Regional Tourism Committee. They feature emblematic places and scenes of life typical of the capital and its vibrant energy.
There will be numerous events and experiences. Ready-to-wear brand AMI has designed an exceptional display under the Galeries' century-old dome. Two pop-ups and several dressed windows will allow visitors to admire their chic, casual pieces from the 'AMI de Cœur' capsule collection.
The Ateliers de Paris will also be setting up creative activities, while the Keur brand will be running embroidery workshops.
There's plenty to enjoy on the rooftop too. The CRU Restaurant, on the third floor of the Homme Galeries Lafayette shop, will also be opening a new 'guinguette'-type space where you can enjoy a drink at happy hour in partnership with La Cave (Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays from 6 to 8pm).
Entertainment for all ages
Disneyland® Paris will be taking over Galeries Lafayette Paris Haussmann, setting up its magical and marvellous universe. Visitors will be immersed in this unique atmosphere and will be able to meet its star characters.
Galeries Lafayette will also be offering customers a chance to win some unforgettable experiences, including a visit to the Eiffel Tower or the Château de Versailles, a helicopter flight over Paris and a cruise on the Seine.
On 10 and 17 July, the Moulin Rouge, a staple of Parisian parties, will be rocking the Glasswalk at Galeries Lafayette Paris Haussmann with a tailor-made medley. It's an opportunity to savour a snippet of their glamorous, legendary show, but also to admire the stunning costumes made by the Moulin Rouge's Maisons d'Art!
Food and artisan goods
In terms of shopping, a vast selection of 'Made in Paris' and 'Designed in Paris' products and brands will be available to buy.
This is an opportunity to discover the French savoir-faire that shapes Parisian style. Brands include Jacquemus, Isabel Marant, Soeur Paris and Cadet Rousselle for ready-to-wear fashion, VEJA for shoes, A.P.C for leather goods, Diptyque and Aime Skincare for home and beauty, Angelina and 'Sous les Fraises' for delicacies. And so many others...
Food will of course be celebrated. Pierre Hermé, Jean-Paul Hévin, Pierre Marcolini and Dalloyau will be offering exclusive creations made for the occasion - and visitors can enjoy tastings in store.
To celebrate Paris' beating heart, there's no better place to be this summer than Galeries Lafayette!
