The Moulin Rouge, Largest Cabaret in the World

The world-renowned Moulin Rouge was founded in 1889 in Paris. More then 125 years later, party-goers around the world dream of reliving La Belle Époque. Why not join in?

The year is: life is carefree and joy fills the air. La Belle Époque and exuberant popular culture settle down in Montmartre. \

It is in this famous cabaret that French Cancan earned its reputation and where a new artistic concept is born: Music Hall. It always wowed crowds, standing the test of time.

French Cancan

The Moulin Rouge evokes the French Cancan quite naturally, a wild dance with a flurry of legs in the air. The alluring and colourful costumes of the dancers add to this unique spectacle that became the hallmark of Parisian cabaret, continuing even today.

For over 120 years, seven days a week, 1,800 spectators enthusiastically watch the ''Féerie'' show in which sixty artists make a real performance, among them the famous 40 Doriss Girl wearing feathers, strass and spangles (see photo).

All social classes together

Next to Montmartre come and experience the eternal pleasures! The show spirit is all around you... and in the theatre. Come and eat, drink while watching a Music Hall show where you can see cabaret dancers in corsets and dazzling choreography.

Crossroads of artistic disciplines

The Moulin Rouge® was also the crossroads between the art world and night life.

You may come across the ghost of the painter Toulouse-Lautrec inspired by the night revelers in the area at the time.

Maybe you will hear the voice of singers : La Goulue, Jane Avril or Yvette Guilbert who performed in front of a supportive working class audience.

Today, the work of the Moulin Rouge® creators, Joseph Oller and Charles Zidler, is up to date with current tastes.

The secret? Festive evenings sprinkled with champagne where you can dance and marvel at the 60 artists of the Fééries show.

Come to the Moulin Rouge® and experience the magic of this unique cabaret show.
