The City of Lights has always fascinated artists, both inspiring them and drawing them in. It serves as the background to countless novels and films, and is the central focus of a number of paintings and songs. A city favorable to art in general, there are many sites that witness its artistic history.

Gainsbourg Forever

Serge Gainsgbourg, the epitome of the Parisian, moved in 1969 to a private house on the rue de Verneuil in which he would live until his death in 1991. Since then, this address has become a place of pilgrimage for his fans. The façade of 5 bis is tagged with drawings and messages of homage.

Balzac in Passy

In this house, rented under a made up name, Balzac reread and corrected the entire Human Comedy and wrote a few of his biggest works. The museum proposes to the visitor a dive into his world through personal items and a number of first editions.

Chez Victor Hugo

The museum retraces the life of the writer and centralizes the furniture and objects he owned in different homes he lived in. Organized chronologically, the museum retraces the great periods of his life in this apartment he lived in from 1832 to 1848 on the place Royale, since renamed the Place des Vosges.

Hotel Biron and Rodin

Rodin set up his studio in the Hotel Biron in 1908. In 1919, two years after the sculptor's death, the museum sees the light of day. Renovated in 2015, it resolutely places the sculptor in the heart of the building as well as in the garden that itself houses a number or Rodin’s works.

A Studio-Museum

A little museum in the heart of Montparnasse, built in a studio where the artist lived and worked for 50 years between 1928 and 1967. The garden and windows highlight the artist’s sculptures.

Bourdelle in Montparnasse

When he moved into this studio in 1885, the sculptor Bourdelle chose an environment rich in studios. The museum allows you to discover a collection of works through his studio, the sculpture garden, apartment as well as an extension to the museum designed by Christian de Portzamparc.
