Mission Impossible: Why Tom Cruise loves Paris

Image from the trailer for Mission Impossible Fallout.
We saw the last installement of Mission Impossible, and as expected, it rocks. As a promo for the film, Tom Cruise has no shortage of praise for Paris, chosen as the main scenery of his impressive stunts. Seeing him on the screen, the actor enjoyed for at least 7 good reasons ...
1. Fly over the Eiffel Tower by helicopter

When we call ourselves Tom Cruise and we have 120 minutes to save the world (a story of plutonium to recover as soon as possible) the most practical is the helicopter. We keep an eye on the Seine, the three floors of the Eiffel Tower, the comings and goings on the quays. A panoramic view is a must.

2. Parachute landing on the glass roof of the Grand Palais

Dropped (for real) by a plane over Paris, Tom Cruise and Henry Cavill land on the glass roof of the Grand Palais in the middle of a monstrous evening. A little stunned by the fall (32,000 feet of altitude anyway), they cross the dance floor (a very nice place to organize a party) before completely destroying the toilets during a muscular fight. Memorable.

3. Be betrayed at Trocadero

Among secret agents, trahison is common practice. But even if you want to plot against Tom Cruise, you might as well do it big. It is happening far from indiscreet ears, on the esplanade of Trocadero, facing the Eiffel Tower. Class.

4. Drive along the arcades of Bir-Hakem bridge at full speed

Tom Cruise doesn't deny his pleasure when he takes the straight line of Bir-Hakeim bridge at full speed. Aesthetic, its arcades had already caught the eye of the director Christopher Nolan for the movie Inception. Worship.

5. Make appointments in the gardens of the Royal Palace
Image from the trailer "Mission: Impossible - Fallout".

Nothing like a little secret rendez-vous between ex-future allies to rekindle the flame. The perfect place for a meeting? The gardens of the Royal Palace, between the alleys with perfectly trimmed hedges and the columns of Buren. We can save the world, love art, and love everything. Hot.

6. Drive into the Place de l'Étoile in the opposite direction

As you can see on the picture, Tom Cruise-Ethan Hunt is about to take the Place de l'Étoile in the opposite direction. Turning upside down around the Arc de Triomphe, the busiest traffic junction in France, the hero realizes the fantasy of every self-respecting Parisian motorist. Crazy.

7. Navigate underground canals aboard a zodiac
Image from the trailer of "Mission: Impossible - Fallout".

Well informed, our hero knows perfectly the access to the underground parts of the Canal Saint-Martin, which stretches between the Bastille and the basin of Villette. One of the trendy districts of Paris, between quiet daytime pleasure and evening outings. This time, the Canal just saved his life. Really, Tom...
